Easy overview.
I love the whole series of Easy Spanish Step by Step and its French equivalent because they make the study of grammar within reach and so simple. I would not begin with it as a beginner student. I would focus instead on conversation books produced by Assimil and may be use this on the side to supplement.
I found this to be an effective book for beginners. It was a great learning tool in helping with grasping a new language. And still using it as an ongoing vehicle.
